Life in Kyoto could be troublesome if you don't know the basic rules. The Japanese government has rules that are not found in any other country.Every province and municipality has its own set of rules. Not following the rules can cause you much trouble. To make your life easier and trouble-free, you should follow rules.

 In this article, we are going to talk about some basic rules that you need to follow while using the transportation system in Japan.



Some train rules to remember:

  • Allow passengers in front of you to board the train first.Stay in line and wait your turn. Do not also rush into the train.Let the passenger get off before you get in.
  • It is not allowed to eat or drink inside the train. You are not allowed to eat any food or drink any beverage. But you can drink water once or twice.
  • It is not allowed to talk loudly on the phone. It might disturb others. They will arrive and tell you to stop talking and ask you to turn off your phone.
  • Do not sit in the reserved seats for the elderly, the disabled, or pregnant women.You can use it if the train is not crowded, but you must leave if someone requires it.
  • Do not occupy more space in the seat. Place your possessions on your lap. While standing, carry your belongings in front of you.
Some bus rules to remember:
  • It is not allowed to play music over loud noise.
  • Talk in a small voice with your friends.
  • Do not put your belongings on the empty seat.
  • There will be no smoking or drinking on the bus.
  • Please do not throw garbage inside the bus.
  • You must not walk while the bus is moving.
